Sydney will once again come alive with two of the most stunning ocean liners in the world on Saturday
Sydney-siders will be treated to a cruising spectacular on 25th of February 2017 when two of the world’s most famous ships dock in Sydney Harbour.
The Queen Mary 2 and Queen Elizabeth will rendezvous almost ten years to the day of their last visit to Sydney, which brought the city to a standstill.
Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight Melinda Pavey said Sydney Harbour will be in ship shape to welcome the queens of the sea in style.
“The lights on Sydney’s iconic Harbour Bridge and Opera House will be switched on to pay homage on the tenth anniversary of Queen Mary 2’s first visit to Sydney.”
“There’s no better way to welcome international visitors to Australia’s gateway city than lighting up the nation’s most recognisable landmarks.”
“This royal rendezvous will be one Sydney-siders and the passengers never forget and marks ten years of extraordinary growth for cruising in Australia.”
Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam Marshall said this is a major international event with thousands from around the world visiting the harbour and surrounds.
“This visit alone is set to inject around $2 million into the local economy, with the two ships bringing close to 7, 500 guests into the city over the weekend.”
