The Pre-apprenticeship Training Initiative will help students and young people ages 15 to 24 gain the skills they need to secure their apprenticeship and find an employer
The $2m training initiative has been planned that will make the transition young people experience of going from school to apprenticeship training and then the job market a smoother one.
Young people will be able to participate in the initiative through an eligible group training organisation which will enable them to familiarise themselves with trade choices and the requirements of the workplace.
Minister for Regional Development, Skills and Small Business John Barilaro said the Pre-apprenticeship Training Initiative was about building a skilled workforce for the future, “That helps students make informed career choices and assists employers to identify skilled staff.”
Pre-apprenticeship training includes the following sectors:
- Automotive
- Construction
- Electro technology
- Hospitality
- Horticulture
- Manufacturing
- Stone masonry.
