Media Release by : Kerri-Ann Hobbs, Multicultural NSW, 13 December 2024: In response to feedback from communities, the NSW Government has extended the application deadline for the Safe Places for Faith Communities Grants program to 9 January 2025.
This extension reflects the Government’s commitment to supporting the safety and security of places of worship and other places where faith communities gather regularly.
The Safe Places for Faith Communities Grants program, recently bolstered by an additional $5 million in funding, aims to enhance safety and resilience for faith-based groups.
Part of a broader $15 million initiative, the program addresses the evolving security needs of NSW’s diverse religious communities.
Eligible applicants can seek grants ranging from $5,000 to $250,000 for use at faith-based centres, including places of worship, seminaries, religious museums, community centres, retreats, and sites of religious significance. The funding supports both protective security measures and holistic initiatives that promote community wellbeing and resilience.
