“I’m pleased to hear that Powerhouse Parramatta is one step closer to becoming a reality, giving the people of Western Sydney a world-class museum on their own doorstep,” Cr Dwyer said.

“As the centre of global Sydney, Parramatta has long awaited an iconic cultural institution that will educate and inspire the people of Western Sydney and beyond for generations to come.

“Powerhouse Parramatta will be a game-changer for our City. Not only will it create more than 4,000 jobs, but it will attract up to two million visitors a year and inject millions of dollars into the economy.

“This new museum will make a significant contribution to our City and its culture, now and into the future.”

The City of Parramatta has previously advocated for the retention of Willow Grove and St George’s Terrace.

“I’d like to thank the NSW Government for their ongoing commitment to this once-in-a-lifetime project and I look forward to working with them on the delivery of a museum that will shine a spotlight on Parramatta and attract visitors from near and far,” Cr Dwyer said.
