Western Leaders Watch the Israeli Massacres as Spectators
By Mahboob A. Khawaja, PhD.
President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken have borne witness to the brutal and tragic abnormality of Israel’s planned killing of civilians and the unfolding genocide in Gaza. Despite this, their interests and policies appear aligned with a disconcerting indifference toward the suffering in Palestine. The ongoing occupation, forced displacement, and daily civilian killings are strategic goals of Israel’s extremist political leadership. Encouraged by U.S. support, these leaders envisage a plan for a “Greater Israel,” potentially encompassing parts of Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt.
Neo-colonial puppets—the former tribal agents who now self-style as kings, princes, and presidents—follow the dictates of Europe and America to maintain their positions of power. Immune to logic or the advice of Muslim scholars specializing in global affairs, they betray their people while Western leaders ignore their own historical lessons. By masking their warmongering intentions, they fail to anticipate the consequences of their inhumanity. In times when human survival faces critical challenges, global institutions and conscientious individuals must act collectively to halt massacres and genocide. Yet, Arab-Muslim leaders remain passive, as if waiting for a miracle to stop Israel’s destruction of Gaza and the rest of Palestine.

The UNO’s Failure to Protect Humanity
The United Nations has failed miserably in its Charter obligations. Millions of Palestinians have nowhere to go, no place of safety or protection for their lives. Every day is a killing day, with bombardments targeting innocent civilians, places of worship, hospitals, and UNRWA school shelters. Israel freely uses weapons of mass destruction supplied conveniently by the U.S. government.
This war scenario bolsters Netanyahu’s political absolutism. As an egoistic leader with a controversial profile, he prioritizes his unbridled ambitions, often resorting to manipulation, violence, and the initiation of new conflicts. His alignment with extreme Jewish ultra-nationalists aims to deny Palestinians their right to an independent state and dismantle the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Arab-Muslim Leaders: Friends of Israel and America
Reports from U.S. media reveal that Saudi and Emirati leaders have financial investments in Israeli technology and manufacturing industries. These leaders seem oblivious to the tides of history and divine judgment for their betrayal of Arab interests. Their actions demonstrate a lack of moral and political integrity, leaving the Arab masses without representation or defense.
Simply put, these leaders are puppets and agents of Western imperialism. Netanyahu, however, needs a robust political and intellectual challenge to reconsider his belligerent policies against Arabs—a challenge that has yet to materialize. The occupation of the Egyptian Rafah crossing to Gaza remains unopposed, with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi taking no action in its defense. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and other regional stooges maintain their silence, emboldening Israel’s efforts to obliterate Gaza.
Interestingly, thousands of Israeli citizens regularly protest against Netanyahu’s government in Tel Aviv, calling for an immediate ceasefire, the return of hostages, and peace talks. This raises a critical question: Are the historic Israelites—the progeny of Jacob and followers of Moses—the same as today’s Zionists?
Israel and the U.S. Pursue War, Not Peace
“Fear God” and “do not violate the covenants of peace and trust on Earth” are divine reminders echoed by Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad—prophets who preached peace and global brotherhood. The Quran (33:72) cautions humanity:
“We did indeed offer the Trust to the Heavens and the Earth and the mountains, but they refused to undertake it, being afraid thereof. But man undertook it; he was indeed unjust and foolish.”
Those causing catastrophic destruction of human life and the planet are not normal but sadistic individuals driven by greed and power. The followers of Moses are reminded in the Quran (2:84-85):“And remember, We took a covenant from the Children of Israel… shed no blood amongst you, nor displace people from their homes… And on the Day of Judgment, they shall be consigned to the most grievous penalty, for God is not unmindful of what you do.”
Driven by the allure of American weapons and economic support, Israeli leaders disregard the long-term consequences of their actions. Netanyahu’s extremist regime seeks to end Palestinian resistance entirely, using Gaza as a testing ground for this objective.
The Moral Imperative to Act
At this critical juncture, humanity must confront its complicity in allowing ignorance, hatred, and animosity to dominate our lives. God created humans as intelligent beings with the moral and intellectual capacity to uphold justice and accountability. Yet, when we defy divine laws, we face consequences, as history has shown.
The Quran (35:44) warns:
“Do they not travel through the Earth and see what the end of those before them was? Though they were superior to them in strength, nor is God to be frustrated by anything whatever in the heavens or Earth; for He is All-Knowing, All-Powerful.”
The ongoing genocide in Gaza demands immediate action. Global institutions and leaders must restore justice, equal human rights, freedom, and peace. Failure to act will not only condemn the Palestinians but also erode the moral foundation of humanity. (The writer is a regular column writer for international news outlets.
