Accessing immunisation history is child’s play

Tribune International (Press Release): As the new school year kicks off the Department of Human Services is making it simpler than ever for parents to access their child’s immunisation history.

Minister for Human Services, Senator the Hon Marise Payne said parents who need to provide proof of immunisation for their child’s school enrolment can access their child’s immunisation history by using a mobile app.

“With the Express Plus Medicare app you have access to your child’s Immunisation History Statement directly from your smartphone or tablet,” Minister Payne said.

“With just a few clicks you can email a copy of the statement to your school or childcare provider.

“It offers a great option for busy parents as they complete enrolment details for their children during the back-to-school period.

“You can also claim Medicare benefits, view your claim history, and much more using the app.”

In addition to Express Plus Medicare, parents can log on to Medicare Online Services using the myGov website to access immunisation history, as well as a wide range of other Medicare services.

The immunisation history details all vaccinations given to children under seven years of age and is available until the child turns 14.

“Express Plus Medicare and myGov gives busy parents more options to access their records online quickly and easily,” Minister Payne said.

“You can access your information when it suits you, without needing to call or visit a Medicare office.”

The Express Plus Medicare app can be downloaded for iOS and Android smartphones and tablets, from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Medicare Online Services, as well as a range of other Australian Government online services, are available at my.gov.au.
