PTI NSW Celebrates Eid-ul-Fiter & Independence Day 2013

Sydney (Press Release by PTI): On 9 August 2013, PTI NSW held an Eid and Independance Day function at Bowman Hall, Campbell Street, Blacktown. Approximately 250 people attended the event including students, professionals, entrepreneurs and families. Guests were entertained with live Pakistani music and the sights and sounds of a nearly packed hall of Pakistani adults and children. Children were also entertained with a range of activities including face-painting, a magic show and a mehndhi competition.

Asad Umer (Senior Vice President of PTI) in his video message, greeted the audience for Eid and Independence Day. He also acknowledged PTI Australia’s tremendous contribution towards building Naya Pakistan. Asad Umer explained how PTI is progressing these days and how overseas Pakistanis can help PTI government in KPK to make it a role model province for the rest of Pakistan.

PTI NSW presented with facts & figures an overview of its multiple fold growth & performance of last year to the audience. Guests were encouraged to become a paying member of PTI NSW and participate in upcoming PTI Australia intra party elections to vote/contest.

Dr. Mehreen Faruqi, the first Pakistani member of Australian parliament & Mr Ed Husic, the first Muslim member of the Australian parliament, made a special appearance, wishing all a happy Eid-ul-Fitr and Independence Day.
A number of prizes were awarded including PTI’s 2 dollar raffle draw. In addition, gifts were handed out to a number of persons including the youngest in attendance, the oldest in attendance, the best dressed and the first person to answer a question on Pakistan’s history.

The most important thing is that NSW’s Pakistani community was united for a safe and peaceful gathering to celebrate our religion and Pakistan. All participants vowed to continue their support to PTI & Imran Khan until we build Naya Pakistan.

Catering was provided by Himalaya Restaurant and consisted of a three piece meal, including chana chart, daal, lamb, and kheer. PTI NSW would like to thank its sponsors and all who attended for making this a night to remember.
