The Ministry of Foreign Affairs handed over a list of Indian prisoners currently held in Pakistani prisons to the Indian High Commission in Islamabad on Tuesday in accordance with the Agreement on Consular Access signed between the two countries in 2008.
The Agreement on Consular Access was signed on May 21, 2008 and requires both India and Pakistan to exchange lists of prisoners in each other’s custody twice a year, on January 1 and July 1.

Pakistan and India also exchanged lists of their respective nuclear installations and facilities on Tuesday.

The governments of both the countries are required to exchange such lists in accordance with Article-II of the Agreement on prohibition of attacks against nuclear installations and facilities between Pakistan and India of 31 December 1988.
