KARACHI — Cricket legend Wasim Akram’s car was shot at on Karsaz Road in Karachi on his way to the National Stadium, Bowling Camp. The cricket hero did not receive any injury but the bullet hit his car.
Reportedly, unknown person(s) bumped their vehicle into Wasim Akram’s car and opened fire after verbal brawl. Akram was unhurt after the firing attack and he noted the offending vehicle number and gave it to the police. The police say that the attacker was possibly under influence.
“This is a road rage incident and can happen in any country”, said the former Test cricketer.
According to details, Wasim Akram was on his way to the National Stadium when the incident took place at the Karsaz road. The firing hit Akram’s car’s tyre.
Akram said that the attacker did not attempt to snatch mobile phone or wallet, adding that he has handed the number of the vehicle to the police.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) East told that Wasim Akram himself called and informed the police about the attack, adding that the attacker was under drug influence. Officials say that he was not the target of any planned killing. The case of the incident has been registered in New Town Police Station. Wasim Akram also met DIG East Munir Sheikh. The DIG assured him that the incident will be properly investigated and that Akram will be provided with full security.
Talking on the incident, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan condemned the attack while Shahid Afridi prayed for Wasim Akram. Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad has also taken notice of the incident.-ARY News
