Report by Sarwat Hassan, Tribune International, Australia, December 15, 2024
The Thailand Halal Assembly (THA) 2024, an international summit on halal science and innovation, is set to take place on December 19-20, 2024, at the Al Meroz Hotel in Bangkok.

Organized by the Halal Science Center of Chulalongkorn University, the conference is themed “Toward Halal Trust through Digital Technology 2AIs.”
This year’s assembly underscores Thailand’s leadership in the global halal industry, merging cutting-edge technology with traditional principles. Led by the vision of Dr. Winai Dahlan, the founding director of the Halal Science Center, the conference has evolved into a premier platform for fostering innovation, research, and collaboration in the halal sector.
A Decade of Pioneering Leadership by Dr. Winai Dahlan
The origins of the Thailand Halal Assembly trace back to August 2014 when Assoc. Prof. Dr. Winai Dahlan, a globally recognized scholar and halal industry expert, participated in the Japan Halal Summit in Tokyo. Inspired by discussions with representatives from the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC), an OIC-affiliated body, Dr. Dahlan advocated for Thailand’s active role in establishing global halal standards. His collaboration with the Central Islamic Council of Thailand and the Halal Standard Institute of Thailand culminated in Thailand joining SMIIC and launching the annual Thailand Halal Assembly.
