Sydney (Tribune International): Kiwanis Club is the only organisation in Karachi that helps provide FREE early-intervention services for Down syndrome children? And did you know that it provides free counseling to the children’s parents too?
So when the Club first approached us back in 2011 to sponsor World Down Syndrome Day (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Down_Syndrome_Day) on March 21, we were thrilled to be able to get involved in such a worthy initiative.
On that day, over four hundred special and Down Syndrome children and their carers came to the Kiwanis Club to enjoy games, musicians, dancing, and delicious meals – and to raise much-needed public awareness about the rights, inclusion and wellbeing of people with Down Syndrome.
Since its inception, the Western Union Foundation (http://foundation.westernunion.com) has donated more than US$85 million to more than 2,591 non-governmental organisations in more than 130 countries – and this event was a great example of Western Union’s(www.westernunion.com.au) continuing commitment to ‘Moving Money for Better.’
Stay tuned for news about our next initiative. In the meantime, we look forward to seeing you at the Chand Raat Eid Festivals (http://chandraat.net/?page_id=19) in Sydney and Melbourne in August.
Kind regards,
The Western Union Foundation
