PAKISTANI COMMUNITY IN AUSTRALIA CONDEMNS VIOLENCE IN ISLAMABAD WITH PROTESTS IN CANBERRA

Canberra, Dec 6, 2024, (Tribune’s Report): The Pakistani community in Australia, particularly members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sydney chapter, convened outside the Pakistani High Commission at 4 Perth Avenue, Yarralumla, Canberra, to denounce the violent crackdown on peaceful protesters in Islamabad. The protestors expressed their outrage over the recent incidents at D-Chowk, where direct gunfire reportedly claimed lives, injured many, and led to the mass arrest of rally participants under allegedly fabricated charges.

Holding placards and banners decrying the brutality, participants called attention to the bloodshed and the violation of fundamental rights. They condemned the actions of what they described as a “fraudulent government” supported by military and paramilitary forces, including the police, rangers, and firing squads of the Pakistani army.

The speakers passionately urged global democratic powers and international human rights organizations to hold the perpetrators accountable. They demanded justice for the victims and an end to what they termed state-sponsored oppression. A collective funeral prayer in absentia was offered for the martyrs, paying tribute to those who lost their lives in the struggle for democracy and justice.

The Pakistani community in Australia stands united in mourning and determination, demonstrating their solidarity with the victims and their families. Through their continued protests, they hope to amplify their message to the world, seeking justice for the lives lost and an end to oppressive governance.
