HDC Expands its Reach to Saudi Arabia, Continue to Boost Halal Industries in a USD3 Trillion Market

Halal Economy Leadership Forum 2024

Petaling Jaya, 23 April 2024 – Halal Development Corporation Berhad (HDC) will be hosting the Halal Economy Leadership Forum 2024 (HELF 2024) with the objective of extending its global footprint, building upon the outstanding achievements of the World Halal Business Conference (WHBC) Circuit in London last year. HELF 2024 is an extension of the WHBC Circuit, tailored to align closely with its core goals and objectives of pioneering Halal thought leadership and knowledge on Halal Economy.

HELF 2024 is also jointly hosted by the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the Halal Products Development Company (HPDC), The forum aims to make a significant contribution to the

development of the halal industries in both Malaysia and the Saudi Arabia, as well as across the OIC countries. This inaugural forum will be held in conjunction with IsDB Private Sector Forum 2024 at Riyadh on 30 April 2024.

Under the theme “Navigating Future Opportunities, Embracing Innovation,” HELF 2024, will leverage the presence of key government officials from both countries, industry leaders, businesses, trade councils, and representatives from around the globe as well as the members of OIC countries to engage in discussions, endorsements, and networking opportunities. The Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz will deliver the Official Address, representing the government of Malaysia.

Khairul Azwan Harun, the Chairman of HDC remarked, “HELF 2024 in Riyadh marks Malaysia’s inaugural endeavor to pursue collective economic advantages for the ummah in the years preceding the annual HELF event. This initiative aims to foster mutual benefits among IsDB Member Countries (MC), Non-member Countries (NMC) and Observer Countries (OC).”

“As a multilateral policy platform, HELF 2024 will provide the necessary economic and trade instruments to develop, enable and integrate Halal Ecosystems between IsDB Member Countries (MC) among Non-Member Countries (NMC) and Observer Countries (OC). A Halal Ecosystem enablement fund shall be set up to perform these needs,” he added.

Azwan invited key decision-makers, diplomatic envoys, industry leaders, and government officials to attend this important forum. Currently, the top participating countries for delegates are Malaysia, Singapore, and the OIC countries, with efforts to attract more delegates from Africa and West Asia.
