Patio Coffee Roasters in Glandore have won the milk coffee gold medal at Australia’s Golden Bean Awards.
Patio Coffee Roasters in Glandore, a suburb of Adelaide, just won the gold medal for milk coffee at the Golden Bean Awards.
The coffee was selected from more than 400 entries in the category to be judged the country’s best milk coffee at the competition in Port Macquarie, NSW.
Patio head roaster Andrew Mitchell says he was surprised hen their coffee was awarded gold after the blind tasting.
“It was completely unexpected as it was a brand new one – we only received the crop two weeks before the competition,” he said.
“It’s a massive compliment and reinforcement of what we do here because it’s about as level of a playing field as you can get at a coffee competition.”
Golden Bean Awards, held last month, is the world’s largest coffee roasting competition and conference with Australia’s leading roasters going head-to-head across 10 award categories.
Patio Coffee is known for its quality, ethically sourced coffee, roasted in small batches so nothing is older than two weeks before it’s sold in order to preserve freshness.
The business is going under the Patio moniker for a little over two years, but it is built on decades of experience.
Basil Papas began roasting at Adelaide’s Central Market more than 25 years ago. He and his wife Anastasia set up their Glandore business with everything related to coffee under the one roof some time ago as Coffee Craft.
For both professional and home baristas, Patio Coffee also runs training courses and seminars.
