NSW Premier Mike Baird’s message on Eid ul Adha 2016

“I am delighted to send my greetings to Muslim Australians across New South Wales as you celebrate the festival of sacrifice, Eid al Adha.

This is a special time of charity as families share food with those less fortunate while remembering the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son. Eid al Adha is a chance to reflect on faith, family and charity – values which are eternal in a modern world.

I wish to thank Muslim Australians for their commitment to our social harmony and peaceful way of life. Your devotion to helping the sick and needy is much appreciated as we reflect on shared community values.

The NSW Government remains committed to upholding democracy, religious freedom and cultural diversity. I am pleased to wish everyone a peaceful and wonderful Eid al Adha in 2016.
