Sunday July 27.

‘Eid Day-out’ was a new concept of celebrating Eid on the day of the Eid festivities; it was a working day with most public schools open, being Tuesday, however, a crowd of over 5,000 showed that Australian Muslims in majority take a day off on Eid-ul-Fitr and celebrate Eid with their families. Cathy Freeman Park, located in the heart of the Sydney Olympic Park, was packed with people with their families meeting and congratulating each other. There were 40 stalls of foods, merchandise & professional services along with exciting amusements and rides. The happiness of the joyous occasion along with the smiles of hundreds of children could be seen at the park with many parents thanking the organisers for providing a free event welcoming everyone to celebrate.

The multicultural stage performance was another attraction where audience celebrated and participated through the day. It truly was a symbol of community, harmony and friendship as people stood side by side performing their cultural show. As the event progressed to the evening as the event started at 10am til 8pm, many members of the public requested to extend the time for next year as they all were having a wonderful time.

Just after finishing Eid day-out event at Olympic Park the organising team headed for Melbourne to deliver the grand and final event of Eid Festival being held on Saturday 2 August at Sandown Racecourse, Springvale (Melbourne). The event will have over 100 exhibitors, food stalls, small and large rides, camel rides, amusements and 6 hours packed stage performances of cultural & folk dances and singing but the centre of attraction above all will be the guest
