‘Festival brings people of all faiths and backgrounds together’; Message from Kate Lunday on CREF 2013

Hon Kate Lundy Federal Minister for Multicultural affairs has given the following message on Chand Raat Eid Festival (CREF) 2013 Sydney and Melbourne. She will be the Chief Guest of Melbourne’s Event.

‘It is with great pleasure that I send my warmest greetings to the organisers and participants of the 2013 Chand Raat Eid

Festival in Sydney and Melbourne.’

‘Since 1998, the Chand Raat Eid Festival has provided a wonderful opportunity for the Australian community to celebrate the traditional festivity of the ‘night of the moon’ marking the end of the fasting month of Ramadan and the beginning of Eid ul Fitr.’

‘I would like to pay tribute to the significant contribution of the Australian Muslim community in promoting a culturally diverse and socially cohesive multicultural nation.’

‘I am pleased that the Festival brings people of all faiths and backgrounds together and that it receives support from many community leaders and by many different communities.’

‘I would like to congratulate the members of the Chand Raat Eid Festival organising committee whose dedication, commitment and hard work has made the Chand Raat Eid Festival a success story of multicultural Australia.’

‘I wish all those attending a productive and enjoyable event.’
